Croatian Language Immersion in Dubrovnik
The city boasts a typical Mediterranean climate with mild winters and hot dry summers. The average summer temperature of 25°C is refreshed by the gentle Maestral winds - the messenger of good weather. Whereas during the cooler months, the Bura and Jugo winds prevail.
Nearby, a group of tiny traffic free islands known as the Elaphites offer secluded beaches and basic tourist amenities. Further up the coast, the island of Korcula is reigned over by the beautifully preserved medieval town of Korcula.
During summer, regular performances of the colorful Moreka sword dance are staged here, nearby, the village of Lumbarda is home to one of Croatia's best sandy beaches. On the island of Mljet, the green and unspoilt Mljet National Park boasts dense indigenous forests and two interconnected saltwater lakes, Veliko Jezero and Malo Jezero.
Start your tour in the old town with its marble paved squares, steep cobbled streets, tall houses, convents, many churches, palaces, fountains, forts and museums, all cut from the same light-colored stone. The Placa, Dubrovnik's wonderful pedestrian promenade, runs from the city bus stop outside Pile Gate to the clock tower at the other end of tower. End your tour sitting drinking at many of the local cafes, that line the streets.
A monumental and impressive fortress outside the city walls at the western side of the city. It rises proudly on a step sliff about 37 meters high and dominates the two approaches to the western part of the city. Fort Bokar was built after famous Renaissance architect Michellozi's plans, with a beautiful stone coronet round the top. The fine inner rooms and open spaces of the fort are used as the stage for some of the performances of the Dubrovnik Summer Festival.
Our Croatian language immersion allows you plenty of time to discover the culture & city of Dubrovnik.
