Class Schedule
Classes take place between Monday and Friday from 9:00 to 12:30 for the standard program. The additional lessons for the intensive program take place after a short break for lunch.
Students are typically here at the school 4-5 hours per day. With the Thursday afternoon cultural presentations, students have the opportunity to learn about Mexican holidays and traditions, in Spanish, with handouts, visuals and auditory educational tools. For true immersion, we prefer that the student participate in the community after class where the language is natural and the customs follow the natural rhythms of society. We encourage the student to go out into the community to view and participate in activities like theater, music, demonstrations, dancing, painting, cooking, etc.
Please note that during the summer months, the course timetable may be adjusted and some programs may be taught in the afternoons. In such a case, the cultural activities would take place in the morning, rather than in the afternoon. Your instructors will keep you informed.
You should bring a dictionary, notebooks and colored pens. It is useful to have 2 notebooks, one for new vocabulary, and one for the exercises in class. Textbooks and other teaching materials are provided, but it is advisable to have a good system of keeping your notes together.
Activities & Excursions
Every week there are planned excursions to different tourist attractions and cultural places of interest around the area. For each excursion there is a tour guide who gives a thorough explanation of the site and a presentation to the students.
> Weekly 1 hour cultural presentations on interesting topics like the Aztec Calendar, History of Mariachi, Tequila, etc.
> City-wide, current cultural, sporting activities available daily
> Volunteer activities assistance for extended stay students
